To help you plan your trip, we’ve gathered some tips on how to get here. Whether you prefer to fly, drive, or take the train, there are several easy ways to reach Logroño. To start off with here are the two most important addresses:

There are several airports you can use to reach Logroño. Some are very close, others a bit further away, but with better international connections.
Logroño–Agoncillo Airport (RJL)
The closest airport, just 16 km from the city centre (about 15 minutes by taxi).
Doesn't have that many flights, but the daily Iberia connecting flight with Madrid could come in handy.
Bilbao Airport (BIO)
Around 140 km from Logroño (roughly 80 minutes by car).
A major international airport with frequent flights from across Europe.
Transport into Logroño:
Car hire is the easiest and quickest option (about 80 minutes).
Buses and shuttles are available, though they take longer (3–4 hours).
Vitoria Airport (VIT)
About 90 km from Logroño (just under 1 hour by car).
Served by Ryanair and other low-cost carriers with direct flights from several European cities.
Best option for guests looking for a budget-friendly connection.
Transport into Logroño:
Car hire is recommended for speed and convenience.
Limited bus options, usually requiring a transfer.
Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD)
Spain’s largest airport with excellent international connections.
Getting to Logroño from Madrid:
Bus: about 4 hours, with several departures daily directly from the airport terminal.
Train: about 3.5 hours, with several departures daily.
Car: 3.5 hours via motorway.
Driving is a great option if you’d like to explore La Rioja at your own pace. Spanish motorways are well maintained and scenic, passing through vineyards and rolling hills.
From Bilbao: about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
From San Sebastián: about 1.5 hours.
From Pamplona: about 1.5 hours.
From Madrid: about 3.5–4 hours.
Car hire is straightforward in Spain, but we recommend booking early to be on the safe side.
Logroño has a RENFE train station with regular connections:
From Madrid: around 3.5 hours.
From Barcelona: around 4 hours.
From Zaragoza: around 2 hours.
Trains are comfortable, and tickets can be booked in advance on the RENFE website.
Buses are a very practical way to reach Logroño, especially if you’re coming from Bilbao, Madrid, or Zaragoza. The main operator is ALSA, which runs modern, comfortable coaches with luggage space and air-conditioning. Tickets can be booked online in advance.
Typical journey times:
From Bilbao: around 2.5–3 hours, with direct buses from Bilbao Termibus station (easy to reach from the airport).
From Madrid: around 4 hours, with frequent daily services. Direct connection from Madrid Barajas airport.
From Zaragoza: around 2 hours.
From Pamplona: around 2 hours.
For many guests flying into Bilbao, the bus is the best option if you don’t plan to rent a car.
